crime and the media

New Proposal:

After much deliberation, and research into 2specific topic areas i found little enticing theory and felt like the direction was fairly limited and personally felt like i was not getting much out of the experience.

So i thought 'what issue in the media is current, debateable and something i feel passionate about'. As a result i have began to look into the representation of youth crime in the media. Now

I am going to look into this area on a few platforms and see how i can expand this into a specific research topic. my initial thoughts are.....

TV : Skins, ........Waterloo Road? Hollyoaks?
Film: Kidulthood, ........This is England? Dangerous minds? Spy kids?
Press: Newspaper reports ....... Knife crime, gang violence, drugs,

bones:

an interesting discussion that references the use of female roles in the crime in the media. this clearly shows that bones would be a great case study for this research area.

-currently i'm researching the web and books to look to see if there is any relevant and exciting theory to support this topic area.

Crime in the media

with a specific interest in TV dramas...
i think it would be interesting to explore the role of the police as the law enforcers in a crime seris . i.e how far are the coppers the good guys. or how far are the coppers in fact seen as the villains.
  • good cop turns bad cop
  • cop in on the 'act'.
  • attitudes towards the cops.
  • the characters in the police.

continue....

something also which may be interesting is the representation of gender with crim ein the media. -a focus being the female police officer. e.g. prime suspect- Jane tennison- Dame Helen Mirren.... the bill-DI samantha nixon- Lisa maxwell

advertising platform

my interest in advertising, particlarly the different techniques led me to this link...which epxlores many strategies used....

i quite like the idea of exploring the styles of service/psb~ish type advertising and how their overriding message is educational as oppposed to seling a product.
